Download Format: *.zip Requirements: ASP.Net 2.0, Windows IIS Hosting Installation: Extract the web application files from the ZIP file and copy them to your FTP or Hosting Directory. By default, the SCMS documentation will be set to the root page. This documentation is intended to be removed and replaced with your website content. Introduction Simple Content Management System (SCMS) is a simple web application used to help website owners manage and maintain their content. It also provides a simple way for web designers to integrate custom web templates. Content Editor Access After installing the web application on your web server, bring up the application in your browser. If this is the first time you have accessed the application through your browser, you will see this documentation in the page. By browsing to the 'Admin' directory you will be able to run the site in admin mode. The URL to access the content editor should like similar to the following:
~Or~
You will be prompted for a computer username and password. This is a machine account that authenticates with the server. In most cases, your FTP account username and password will work. On Windows Domains, any Active Directory account will work. Additional security can be set using computer permissions and by editing the web.config file. Once you have authenticated with the admin directory, you will see new control buttons on your website. One of these buttons will say 'Edit Content' and will bring up a Rich Text Editor that will allow you to edit your website content. Changing your HTML Template Simple Content Management System uses a HTML template file to style the content. You can use any HTML editor to create your own template. However, you must include the certain HTML comments in your template in order for the content editor to replace them with dynamic content. The following HTML code contains the appropriate HTML comments to be used in SCMS:
Creating a New Webpage To create a new directory you must first be running the website in admin mode. You must then browse to a URL that does not yet exist. It is important to give the file a .aspx extension because SCMS can only create new web pages that are .aspx files. The following is an example of what a non-existant URL may look like:
~Or~
You will then be forwarded to the default page, but a new control button will appear that will give you the option to create a new page. By pressing that button you will create the new webpage and be redirected to it. Sending an Email from a Webpage This system has the ability to send e-mails based on the forms you develop in the content manager. In order to do this, you must create a form on the web page you are editing. The form toolbar is the third toolbar on the rich text editor. Once you bring up the form editor, you will need to set the method to POST. The name of the form you specify is irrelevant for sending an e-mail if you are not writing JavaScript validation against the form. The e-mail paramenters for sending the message must located in the URL of the form. The URL you specify should look something like this:
From the example above, you can see that the paramaters for sending a message are as follows:
All additional form fields you specify will be parsed and delivered in the body of the message.
